The all-time record for consecutive wins in opening games is eight, set from 1928-35 and 1958-65. Cincinnati opens its season on a Thursday night for third time in the past four years. The first of six non-league contests, the Bearcats are set to face 13 foes during the 2008 regular season.
Cincinnati and Eastern Kentucky meet for the second time on the gridiron. The Bearcats and Colonels last met on Sept. 2, 2006 in Nippert Stadium with UC earning a 31-0 win.
Brian Kelly, the 2007 BIG EAST Coach of the Year, is in his second full season at the helm of the Cincinnati football program with an 11-3 record and a 18-year career mark of 148-54-2. He won two NCAA Division II National Championships at Grand Valley State and led Central Michigan to the 2006 Mid-American Conference Championship.
