BCS Selection Show Event Announced for Sunday at Fifth Third Arena|

CINCINNATI – On Sunday, Dec. 7, Cincinnati Bearcats’ fans are invited to Fifth Third Arena for a special Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Selection Show event, the Department of Athletics announced today. The event is open to the public with the doors of Fifth Third opening at 6:30 p.m. The official BSC Selection Show begins at 8 p.m. and will be televised nationally on FOX.
During the broadcast, head coach Brian Kelly and the football team will make a live appearance on the FOX selection special. Also on display will be the four trophies won so far by this year’s team:
· The Victory Bell, 45-20 win over Miami (OH)
· The Keg of Nails, 28-20 win over Louisville
· The River City Rivalry Trophy, 28-21 win over Pittsburgh
· The BIG EAST Championship Trophy, 6-1 finish in league play
The Bearcats assured themselves of a slot in a BCS Bowl this past weekend as they clinched their first outright league title since 1964, knocking off Syracuse, 30-10, in front of 34,603 fans at Nippert Stadium Saturday. Cincinnati (10-2, 6-1 BIG EAST) also tied the school record for wins and earned the first back-to-back 10-win season in program history.
UC, ranked No. 13 in the latest Associated Press poll, tied its highest ever ranking in the AP poll, dating back to Nov. 1, 1954. The Bearcats No. 12 standing in the latest USA Today poll tops its best mark of No. 16, achieved a week ago.
The Bearcats close out the regular season on Dec. 6, heading to Hawai'i to take on the Warriors in Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. EST and the game will air on ESPN2.
