Keg Of Nails Battle Against Louisville Is Sold Out

Dec. 3, 2013

CINCINNATI - The Thursday night matchup for the Keg of Nails between the University of Cincinnati and University of Louisville football teams is officially sold out, UC Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced Tuesday.

The No. 23 Bearcats (9-1, 6-1 American Athletic Conference) and No. 19/16 Cardinals (10-1, 6-1 American) will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 in Nippert Stadium.

The UC-UofL game will be the second sellout of Nippert Stadium in 2013. The all-time stadium record attendance of 36,007 was set during the season opener against Purdue.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets from the secondary market should look to Vivid Seats, the official ticket reseller of Cincinnati athletics.

Thursday marks the 53rd meeting in a series that dates to 1929. The winner of the UC-UofL game gets the Keg of Nails, one of the more unique rivalry trophies in college football, a replica of a keg used to ship nails. Cincinnati has won four of the past five matchups, including two-in-a-row in Cincinnati.

This is the final scheduled matchup between the two schools for the foreseeable future and the final game in the current configuration of Nippert Stadium. The 113-year old landmark is scheduled to undergo an $86-million renovation and expansion starting next week. The 15-month project will see the Bearcats play the 2014 season at Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati. For more information, please visit
