Dec. 10, 2011
CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team returned to the practice field Saturday to begin preparations for the 53rd AutoZone Liberty Bowl against Vanderbilt University on Dec. 31, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. ET in Memphis, Tenn.
The Bearcats worked out for around 90 minutes in full pads inside the Sheakley Athletics Center. UC will continue practicing on campus ahead of departing for Memphis on Dec. 26.
Earlier this week, eight UC student-athletes were named to the All-BIG EAST teams, including Offensive Player of the Year Isaiah Pead, Co-Defensive Player of the Year Derek Wolfe and Coach of the Year Butch Jones. Wolfe was also named a Second-Team All-American by Yahoo! Sports.
Jones guided the Bearcats to their third conference championship in four years, led the team back to a bowl game after a 1-year hiatus and helped the program more than double its win total of a year ago. He earned his third conference championship as a head coach (2007, 2009 at Central Michigan, 2011 at Cincinnati) and his 40th career victory in the season finale against Connecticut.
