In four short days the University of Cincinnati fanbase has purchased 17,500 tickets to the 2010 Allstate Sugar Bowl and sold out the school’s allotment of tickets, Director of Athletics Mike Thomas announced.
“This is a momentous occasion for our department,” said Thomas. “The energy and excitement our fans are generating around our campus and this city is electric. I am sure with the help of our friends at the Sugar Bowl more and more UC fans will find a way to be in New Orleans for the New Year and be a part of the biggest football game in our program’s history.”
UC Athletics is working with Sugar Bowl officials on the possibility of acquiring more tickets so fans are encouraged to check back to GoBEARCATS.com for updates.
Season-ticket holders can call the Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-CATS-TIX to be placed on a waiting list if additional Sugar Bowl tickets become available early next week.
Patrons looking for tickets can also go online to AllstateSugarBowl.org or TicketMaster.com. Official UC Travel packages are still available through Provident Travel by clicking here (tickets are not included in the travel packages).
Seat Exchange is the Official Secondary Ticket marketplace for the UC Department of Athletics. Fans are able to view market prices, ticket supply levels, and seating locations 24-hours a day via Seat Exchange's website. Fans can view available tickets for 2010 Sugar Bowl and other UC sporting events at http://cincinnati-bearcats-tickets.seatexchange.com/.
No. 3 UC will face No. 5 Florida in the Sugar Bowl, UC's second-straight New Years Day appearance in a Bowl Championship Series game, and it will mark the Bearcats' (12-0, 7-0 BIG EAST) first game in New Orleans since the 2002 New Orleans Bowl.
Florida is 12-1 on the season, after falling to Alabama, 32-13, in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game in the Georgia Dome. UC and Florida have met once before on the gridiron, a 48-17 Gators win in Gainesville on Oct. 20, 1984.
UC is the first BIG EAST team to play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl since West Virginia knocked off Georgia, 38-35, on Jan. 2, 2006. BIG EAST teams are 3-3 all time in the Sugar Bowl.
