Football Adds Junior College Defensive Back Malcolm Murray

University of Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones announced the signing of defensive back Malcolm Murray (Glendale, Calif./Junipero Serra/Mt. SAC) Thursday, during the NCAA Mid-Year Junior College National Letter of Intent signing period. Murray has signed an NLI and plans to enroll at UC in January and participate in offseason workouts.

He will enroll as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

“We are excited to welcome Malcolm Murray to the Bearcats Football Family,” Jones said. “He brings a good work ethic and a championship mentality with him. He understands what it takes to play and win at a high level and will help our program to add depth and competition in the defensive backfield.”

Murray joins the Bearcats from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. In two seasons there, Murray saw action in 27 games in the defensive backfield, racking up 77 tackles, 10 interceptions, including a pair of interception returns for touchdowns, and eight pass break ups.

Junior College: Helped lead Mt. SAC to a 13-0 season and their second consecutive State and National Community College Championship in 2010 ... totaled 77 tackles, 10 interceptions, including two returns for touchdowns, and eight pass break ups during his Mounties career ... was eighth on the squad in 2010 with 38 tackles, including 28 solo stops ... led the team with four interceptions and 45 return yards ... also had two fumble recoveries, a pass break up and a quarterback hurry ... tallied 39 stops in 2009, playing in 13 games for the Mounties ... tied for the team lead with six interceptions ... tallied 132 return yards and a touchdown ... also had 4.5 tackles for a loss and seven pass breakups.
