The University of Cincinnati men's golf team posted a 1-under par 287 highlighted by freshman Jared O'Kelley's 3-under par 69 during second-round action Monday at the USF Invitational at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (par 72, 7,153 yardage) in Dade City, Fla.

The Bearcats (4-over 293-287=580) moved up to 12th place in the competitive 16-team field that features seven teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 40 rankings. Host South Florida, ranked No. 33 in the nation, leads the team standings at 26-under 281-269=550.

O'Kelley was one of three UC players to card second-round scores of par or better. Sophomore Emerson Newsome (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek High School) climbed into a tie for 36th place at 74-71=145 and junior Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./ Central Alabama CC) earned a 79-72=151 to tie for 78th place. Junior John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./ Central Alabama CC) slipped back to into a tie for 47th place at 79-72=151. Junior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) is tied for 78th place at 76-75=151.

"Today was a solid round," UC head coach Doug Martin. "We were a lot better team today. I am really happy for Jared O'Kelley and Emerson Newsome, both posted sub-par rounds.

"We have lacked a fourth score all week. Anytime you play in a field with this type of depth you must have four scores. Tomorrow is a new day and I very much look forward to watching these guys compete."

Brian Campbell of Illinois moved into first place on the individual leader board at 64-67=131.
The Bearcats begin final-round play Tuesday at 9:50 a.m. at hole No. 10.
