LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team posted a 20th-place finish at the UK Bluegrass Invitational on April 11 at the Kentucky University Club Big Blue Course.
Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) was UC's top finisher, firing rounds of 76-70-74=220. He placed in a tie for 46th at seven over par for the tournament.
Andrew Desmarais (Union, Ky./Ryle) shot 79-74-73=226 to place 87th, while Matt Ledom (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst Jesuit Prep) tied for 100th place with rounds of 73-73-83=229.
David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) shot 79-73-81=233 to place 110th and Zack Bates (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) posted rounds of 77-82-77=236 for a share of 117th place.
Cincinnati shot rounds of 305-290-305=900 to tie for 20th place with Marshall (303-291-306=900) at 48 over par for the tournament. Murray State (284-278-288=850) won the team title by one shot over Memphis (287-280-284=851) and Auburn (285-287-279=851), who each finished at one under par.
Auburn's John Stembridge shot 71-65-70=206, seven under par, to win the individual title by one shot over Memphis' Jonathan Fly (70-69-68=207).
UC heads to Palm Harbor, Fla., for the 2010 BIG EAST Championships on April 18-20.
