SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – University of Cincinnati sophomore Michael Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) made a hole-in-one and redshirt sophomore Spencer Mellon (Oakmont, Pa./Central Catholic) is tied for 37th place after second-round action Monday at the Cardinal Intercollegiate at the Cardinal Club (par 72, 7,036 yards).
Wolf carded the hole-in-one on the par 3, 206-yard third hole during the morning’s first round as part of a 2-over par 74 score. After struggling in the afternoon’s second round with an 8-over 80 score, he is tied for 63rd place at 10-over par 154 entering Tuesday’s final round.
Mellon, playing as an individual, is tied for 47th place after posting a 5-over par 75-74=149.
Bowling Green State’s Wes Gates leads all competitors with a 7-under par 70-67=137 after two rounds. BGSU also leads the team standings at 8-under par 288-280=568. Cincinnati is tied with Georgetown for 14th place at 308-302=610.
Other Bearcats’ scores include sophomore Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Ryle) in 52nd place at 6-over par 77-73=151; freshman Blake Hamilton (Union, Ky./Ryle) tied for 70th place at 11-over 78-77=155; freshman Emerson Newsome (Hoschton, Ga./Cooper) tied for 77th place at 14-over 85-73=158 and senior David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) tied for 77th place at 14-over 79-79=158.
Final-round play begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET.
