The University of Cincinnati men’s golf team takes part in the two-day, 54-hole Memphis Intercollegiate beginning Monday at the Colonial Country Club (par 72, 7,334 yards) in Memphis, Tenn.
The tournament features 36 holes of play on Monday beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Final round action starts on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Live statistics are available at Golfstat.com.
The 16-team field includes host Memphis, ranked No. 40 in the latest GolfStat rankings, along with Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Cleveland State, Dayton, Georgetown, Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Oakland, South Alabama, Western Kentucky and Xavier. Memphis will have two teams competing in the tournament.
“My hope for this week is to get all five of our guys playing well with confidence,” UC head coach Doug Martin said. “We’ve had some good individual performances this spring but we need everyone to show up and play well. We haven’t been as consistent yet this spring as we were during the fall season.”
Juniors Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Central Alabama CC), Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) and John Michael O’Toole (Pinson, Ala./Central Alabama CC) along with sophomore Emerson Newsome (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek High School) and freshman Jared O’Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) will represent the Bearcats at the Memphis tournament. Howard leads the team with a 72.4 stroke average.
The Bearcats are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Talis Park Challenge on March 17. Jared Howard led all Bearcats, tying for 20th place at 12-over par 74-78-76=228.
