University of Cincinnati junior John Michael O’Toole (Pinson, Ala./Central Alabama CC) recorded back-to-back rounds of 1-over par 73 Monday to tie for ninth place at 146 after two rounds at the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club (par 72, 7,334 yards) in Memphis, Tenn.

The Bearcats ended play Monday at 13-over par 290-299=589 to tie Arkansas State (295-294=589) for third place. Host Memphis leads the 15-team tournament at even par 289-287=576.

Bearcat juniors Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) and Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./ Central Alabama CC) are tied for 17th place at 148. Howard shot an even par 72 in the morning round followed by a 4-over 76 in the afternoon. Reeves registered a 1-over 73 in the opening round and a 3-over 75 in the second round.

UC freshman Jared O’Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) is tied for 26th place at 72-78=150 while sophomore Emerson Newsome (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek High School) is tied for 45th at 80-75=155.

“I saw a lot of positives today,” UC head coach Doug Martin said. “Our ball striking is so far ahead of our scoring shots it's crazy. The weather hasn't helped but we need to improve around the greens as the weather changes. Tomorrow is another great opportunity for this team. We must come out firing.”

Cory Gaylord of Memphis leads the 84-player field at 4-under 70-70=140.

Final-round action begins Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. ET.
