The University of Cincinnati men's golf team competes in the Bluegrass Invitational April 12-13 at the University Club (par 72; 6,992 yards) in Lexington, Ky. The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes on Saturday followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday.

The tournament tees off with a shotgun start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Final-round action on Sunday begins at 8 a.m. Live scoring is not available.

The 13-team field is highlighted by a pair of teams ranked in the Top 35 of the latest GolfStat rankings - No. 26 Auburn and No. 33 Kentucky. Other teams competing include Bradley, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, SIU-Edwardsville, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso and Wright State.

Cincinnati is coming off a second-place finish at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Tuesday. The Bearcats shot a spring-season best 4-under par 860 but fell one stroke short of tournament winner and host Mississippi State. The event featured 11 teams ranked among the Top 100 in the nation. UC entered the tournament ranked 12th among the field.

The result in Mississippi marked UC's eighth Top 5 tournament finish in 10 events this year.

"We're going to have to play with a minimal number of mistakes to finish ahead of Auburn and Kentucky this weekend," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "But anytime you are coming off a good week you have some momentum. If we continue to play like we have been playing the last couple of weeks good things will happen."

Junior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) carded a season-best 5-under 72-72-67=211 to finish fourth at Old Waverly. He has finished first among UC players at three of the five spring tournaments this season and leads the squad with a 72.6 stroke average through 10 events on the year.

Joining Howard in Lexington will be juniors Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Brewbaker Tech/Central Alabama CC) and John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) along with freshman Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) and sophomore Emerson Newsome (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek High School). Bearcat junior Michael Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller High School) also will be competing as an individual at the tournament.

After the Bluegrass Invitational this weekend, Cincinnati competes at the American Athletic Conference Championship April 27-29 in Charleston, S.C.
