Former University of Cincinnati men’s golf player David Tepe qualified for the U.S. Public Links Championship on Monday finishing first among 48 participants after carding a 4-under par 67-69=136 in a qualifier at Sharon Woods Golf Course in Cincinnati.

A native of Liberty Township, Ohio, Tepe ended the qualifier four strokes ahead of Jonathan Feldkamp (67-73=140) of Cincinnati.

Both players will compete in the U.S. Publinx on July 15-20 at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.

Tepe finished his collegiate career earlier this year after becoming only the fourth player in UC history to participate in the NCAA tournament and the first since 1974. He earned All-BIG EAST Conference honors after claiming medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championship on April 30.

Last summer, Tepe finished second at the Cincinnati Metropolitan Amateur Championship and later qualified for the U.S. Amateur.
