Herman Ties for 67th Place at U.S. Open
Former University of Cincinnati men's golf player Jim Herman posted a 76-72-76-79=303 to tie three other players for 67th place at the U.S. Open June 13-16 at the Marion Golf Club.
The finish was Herman’s second-highest at the U.S. Open in three appearances. He also made the cut and finished tied for 47th place at the 2010 event at Pebble beach Golf Links. He also competed at the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club, but did not advance past the second round.
Justin Rose won the event firing a 1-over par 71-69-71-70=281.
Herman qualified for the event on June 3 when he carded a 3-under par 68+70=138 to finish fourth out of 79 competing players in sectional qualifying at the Century Country Club and Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. He recorded birdies on three of his last four holes in first-round action on the Century Country Club course in the morning then followed with a pair of birdies and 16 holes of par scores at the Old Oaks Country Club in the afternoon to advance.
A native of Cincinnati, Herman lettered in golf at UC from 1997-2000. He currently is a resident of Palm City, Fla.
