Tepe Finishes Second at Metropolitan|

CINCINNATI - For the second consecutive year, former University of Cincinnati men's golf player David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) finished second in match-play competition at the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Amateur Championship at Hyde Park Golf & Country Club on Saturday.
Representing Shaker Run Golf Club, Tepe fell to Michael Schmidt of Miami View Golf Club 3 & 2. Schmidt outlasted UC incoming golf player Brennan Walsh of Hidden Valley Golf Club 1 up on Friday.
Tepe reached the finals after defeating Bill Williamson of Coldstream Country Club 4 and 3 in semifinal action on Friday. The contest was a rematch of the 2012 Met match-play final that Williamson won 1 up.
Two other Bearcats also competed in the Met. Junior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) advanced to the second round of match play competition. Howard of Traditions golf Club lost to Jim Muething of Maketewah Country Club 1 up on Thursday. Sophomore Blake Hamilton (Union, Ky./Ryle) of Traditions Golf Club dropped an opening-round matchup with Williamson 3 and 1 on Wednesday.
Newsome Misses Cut at Dogwood Invitational
UC sophomore Emerson Newsome (Hoschton, Ga.) missed the cut after posting a 6-over par 73-75-70=218 on Friday after three rounds at the Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.
Newsome tied for 59th place at the prestigious event considered one of the top 15 amateur tournaments in the nation. Final-round action starts Saturday.
