EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team secured a 4-1 decision at Evansville in its second and final exhibition contest prior to the 2014 regular season on Friday night. The win gives the Bearcats a sweep of their two exhibition matches as they prepare to enter the regular season on Friday, Aug. 29, at Northern Kentucky.

// Manga Scores in Second Straight
Forward John Manga (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) netted the first goal of the match, giving him three in UC's two exhibition games. Manga scored the equalizer in the 27th minute to open the scoring for the Bearcats. He also scored twice in the first half in Cincinnati's 5-1 exhibition victory over Cincinnati State last weekend. The junior was one of UC's biggest threats on the attack in 2013, registering three goals.

// Gill Returns in Net
Redshirt sophomore keeper Alex Gill (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) saw his first match action of the season after starting the majority of the season in goal for the Bearcats last year. Gill only allowed a penalty goal in the match with the Purple Aces, making six saves and playing all 90 minutes. Redshirt freshman Pedro Diaz (Mason, Ohio/Mason) played all 90 minutes in the Cincinnati State match, while senior captain Taylor Hafling (Louisville, Ky./Male) was the starter two seasons ago, when he recorded six consecutive clean sheets.

// Offensive Outburst
The Bearcats scored nine total goals in their two exhibition matches, four against the Purple Aces and five last week versus Cincinnati State. Perhaps more important than the total output is the fact that there were seven different goal scorers. In addition to Manga's three goals, UC received scores from Ricahrdo Israel (Free Town, Jamaica/Lennon), Austen Morley (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/The Gordon Schools), Rantz Bourgeois (St. Amant, La./St. Amant), Emmanuel Appiah (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central), Terence Carter (London, England/London Nautical/Northeastern) and Ashani Walker (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College).

// Cincinnati Scoring Summary
Manga 27' - Cincinnati 1-1 Evansville

Appiah 33' - Cincinnati 2-1 Evansville

Carter 60' - Cincinnati 3-1 Evansville
Carter dribbled down to the endline, then around a defender to the center of the pitch where he scored from seven yards out. It was the first score as a Bearcat for the Northeastern transfer, who was on the Colonial Athletic Conference All-Rookie team in 2012.

Walker 64' - Cincinnati 4-1 Evansville
Walker, who led UC in points last season with 12, dribbled past a defender to the endline before shooting into the upper right corner. The senior had five goals and two assists last season.
