VILLANOVA, Pa. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Villanova on Saturday afternoon at the Villanova Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats (10-2-2, 2-0-2 BIG EAST) scored in the 31st minute on Oscar Umar's fourth goal of the season after a feed from Kyle Soroka.
"This was a pretty evenly played match," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "They scored a good goal after a defensive error on our part. We battled, but came up a bit short."
The match was evenly-played statistically as Villanova outshot the Bearcats, 18-17, and both squads posted seven corner kicks.
Taylor Hafling made four saves for the Bearcats (5-7-3, 2-2-1).
"We're in a tough stretch right now," Dayes said. "We are having trouble scoring goals and we are getting punished for our mistakes. We need to keep working hard and I have no doubt things will turn around. We still have time, but must start now."
The Bearcats wrap up a two-match road swing at DePaul on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET from Wish Field.
