CINCINNATI – Head coach Hylton Dayes of the University of Cincinnati men’s soccer team has announced the addition of Mark Simpson to the 2013 roster. Simpson (Lauderhill, Fla./Pine Crest) will play as a forward and will join the team as a freshman in the fall.

High School: Finished 13th all-time on the school’s career goals list (32 goals) … three-year letterwinner in soccer … scored one goal and had an assist in the Soccer Max small schools All-Star game (2012) … district and regional finalist (2010) … two-time district semifinalist (2011 and 2012) … Disney Showcase Champion (2011) … played for the Region III Olympic Development Program team … Region III quarterfinalist (2011) … National League participant (2011) … played for Weston FC and West Pine Strikers FC … also a two-year letterwinner in track.
Personal: Born May 26, 1996 … son of Mark and Karlene Simpson … has one brother Andre and two sisters Karlie and Rachel … cousin Gary Dias plays tennis at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville … plans to major in biomedical engineering.
Coach Dayes on Simpson: “Mark is a very talented player who came to our attention later in the recruiting process. He can play as a target forward or wide. He is a natural left-footer with good 1v1 skills. We also like his size and pace and can see him contributing this fall.”
