Bearcats in the Pros - May 13 Update|
May 13, 2014
Several Bearcats are continuing their 2014 professional campaigns both domestically and overseas, with an upcoming tilt between Matt Williams' Dayton Dutch Lions FC and Matt Bahner's Harrisburg City Islanders highlighting the USLPRO Schedule.
Williams made seven saves to help Dutch Lions earn a 1-1 draw as they opened their new facility, DOC Stadium, against LA Galaxy II. Galaxy II and Dutch Lions both scored in the final four minutes of the first half before Dayton was forced to play the final 25 minutes with 10 men thanks to a booking. Williams withstood the pressure, including a big save in stoppage time to preserve the draw for Dutch Lions.
Dayton is currently 2-3-2 in USLPRO, good for eight points and a tie for eighth on the table. Williams and Dutch Lions next face fellow Beartcat Matt Bahner and Harrisburg City Islanders in Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 17.
Bahner and Harrisburg will enter the showdown with Dayton following a 1-0 setback to Arizona United SC. City Islanders are currently 1-4-1 with four points on the year. Bahner has played in all six matches, registering a pair of shots from the midfield.
Harrisburg hosts the match with Dayton on Saturday, May 17.
Omar Cummings has continued seeing action off the bench for Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo. Through 11 matches, Dynamo is 4-5-2, good for 14 points and a tie for third in the log-jammed Eastern Conference (New England and Sporting KC share the top of the table with 17 points, followed by DC United, New York Red Bulls and Dynamo with 14).
Cummings has seen action in seven of the 11 matches, playing a total of 95 minutes. He has one goal off of five shots this season.
Houston plays host to LA Galaxy on Saturday, May 17. There are four matches remaining for the Dynamo between now and June 6, when the MLS will then break for the 2014 FIFA World Cup until the end of June.
