// For Starters
The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team begins preparation for its 2014 campaign with an exhibition contest against neighboring Cincinnati State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Gettler Stadium. Admission is free of charge.

The Bearcats return one of the most experienced teams in the nation, including 10 of 11 starters and over 80-percent of its scoring from a season ago. They take the pitch for the first time in 2014 against a Cincinnati State team which went 18-2-2 last year, winning the Ohio Community College Conference and reaching the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament for the second consecutive year.

// Friendly Time
Cincinnati last faced Cincinnati State in an exhibition match in 2009, with the Bearcats taking a 5-1 decision at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats received scores from Mark Kontsch, Tristan Watson, Chris Mitchell and a pair of goals from Alex Fernandes, while the Surge's lone score came on an own goal which deflected off a UC defender. Last season, UC dropped both of its exhibition matches, falling to Michigan and Bowling Green.

// Bring 'Em Back
With over 80-percent of their scoring and 300-plus career starts returning in 2014, the Bearcats boast one of the most experienced teams in the nation. UC returns 81.3% of its goal scoring from a season ago, a total which ranks 13th nationally and tops in the American Athletic Conference. In addition, the roster features a combined 308 career starts entering the season. That makes UC one of just seven schools in the country to have logged at least 300 career starts.
