FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team continues exhibition play against Michigan State tonight in the IPFW Soccer Showcase. The Bearcats and Spartans kick off the tournament at 6 p.m. at IPFW's Hefner Soccer Complex.
UC is coming off a 1-0 victory at IUPUI in its exhibition opener on Aug. 14. Kenny Anaba (Westerville, Ohio/Worthington Christian) scored the lone goal of the match in the 51st minute. Mike Vessells (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) and John-Michael Boggs (Lexington, Ky./Paul Laurence Dunbar) combined to post the shutout.
Michigan State will be playing its first match of the season. The Spartans finished the 2005 season with an 8-5-5 overall mark and a 2-3-1 ledger in league play.
UC will host Michigan in its exhibition finale on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. in Gettler Stadium. Admission is free. The regular season opener is set for Friday, Aug. 25, at rival Xavier, while the home opener is Tuesday, Aug. 29, against Bradley.
