Israel Named Preseason All-Conference by The American|

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Cincinnati sophomore defender Richardo Israel (Free Town, Jamaica/Lennon) has been named Preseason All-Conference by the American Athletic Conference.
Israel was one of 13 players selected to the league's preseason squad, announced on Monday, August 19. Balloting was done by the leagues's nine head coaches, with coaches not permitted to vote for their own players.
The defender started all 18 matches for the Bearcats last season, helping the backs to a school record six consecutive shutouts from Sept. 14-Oct. 3. He earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Rookie team for his efforts, the second-straight season a UC player made the postseason team.
The league also announced that the coaches selected Connecticut to win the league. The Huskies' Andre Blake was named Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, while UConn's Mamadou Doudou Diouf was selected Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. USF's Ben Sweat was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
The Bearcats have an exhibition contest on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Bowling Green, before opening the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30, against Northern Illinois in Columbus, Ohio.
The 2013 home opener is Friday, Sept. 6, when UC hosts the Bearcat Soccer Classic. Friday's matches will include Northern Illinois vs. Evansville at 5:00 p.m. and the Bearcats vs. Saint Louis at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets are available start at just $10 by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX or clicking here.
