Alex Gill Named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week|

University of Cincinnati men's soccer goalkeeper Alex Gill has been named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. The redshirt freshman recorded a clean sheet in UC's 2-0 win over No. 6/9 Louisville before allowing just one goal in an overtime loss at No. 9 UConn.
Gill (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) opened the week by making three saves in the win over the Cardinals, earning his third shutout of the season. He followed that up by making three saves as the Bearcats pushed the Husikes to overtime before falling, 1-0.
On the year, Gill has made 14 starts and posted a 6-7-1 record. He has allowed 19 goals for a 1.29 goals against average, while posting a .774 save percentage.
Temple's Chas Wilson was named the league's offensive player of the week, while UConn's Cyle Larin and George Fochive took home rookie and defensive player of the week awards, respectively. Fernando Laverde (UCF), Andre Blake (UConn), Mark Sherrod (Memphis), Andrew Morales (SMU) and Dan Check (Temple) were named to the honor roll.
In addition to the recognition from the league, Gill was also named National Defensive Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
UC has one game left on the 2013 regular season slate. The Bearcats visit Temple on Saturday, Nov. 2 for a 1:00 p.m. match. The American Athletic Conference Tournament gets underway on Friday, Nov. 8.
