PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The field is set for the inaugural American Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament and the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team will face Rutgers in a first round match-up.
The ninth-seeded Bearcats (6-11-1, 1-7 AAC) will take on the eighth-seeded Scarlet Knights (5-10-2, 2-5-1 AAC) in the opening game on Friday, Nov. 8, at 2:00 p.m. in Louisville, Ky. The winner will take on top-seed and regular season champion Louisville on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The semifinals and finals will be held Friday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 17, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, home of Major League Soccer's FC Dallas.
UC and RU met in the regular season, with the Scarlet Knights taking a 1-0 decision in New Jersey. Mitchell Taintor netted the goal for Rutgers.
The winner will face the Cardinals on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 p.m. The Bearcats dealt the Cards their only loss in conference play, a 2-0 decision at Gettler Stadium.
