MISSION, Kan. -- University of Cincinnati men's soccer standout Omar Cummings (Old Harbour, Jamaica/Cincinnati State) has been named to the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All-America first team.  The two-time unanimous first team All-BIG EAST forward is just the second Bearcat to be named to the NSCAA All-American team and the first to earn first team honors.

Cummings, a first team All-Great Lakes Region selection in 2005 and 2006, led the Bearcats in scoring for the second straight season with 21 points (6 G, 9 A).  He ranked sixth in the the BIG EAST in scoring and finished second in the league with nine assists.  Cummings closed out his two-year career at UC ranked fifth in school history with 16 career assists.  Earlier this week, the senior striker was selected to participate in the Major League Soccer Player Combine in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on Jan. 5-8, 2007.

Cummings is the first Bearcat to earn All-America honors since defender Andrew Kean was named to the NSCAA third team in back-to-back seasons in 1998 and 1999.  Cummings is one of six BIG EAST players to be named to the 2006 first team and one of seven overall.
