Kids can have fun learning about basketball program

Dec. 8, 2009

A new interactive children's activities book about the UC basketball program will be in stores this week and available at Bearcat home games, including Thursday night at U.S. Bank Arena.

The books ($9.99) help connect teams with children ages 6 to 14 - teaching them about a program's history while entertaining them with coloring pages (of the Bearcat and Kenyon Martin), word searches (of former Bearcats who went on to the NBA), mazes and other types of puzzles and games. A sticker page with multiple designs is included.

Topics covered include mascots, coaches, retired jerseys or Hall of Famers, record-setting players, all-time great wins, NCAA Tournament history, home courts, conference history, former players in the NBA and basketball basics. There are even autographs of coach Mick Cronin and notable former Bearcats such as Oscar Robertson, Jack Twyman, Kenyon Martin and Jason Maxiell.

The books are available online at www.fanfunbooks.com. They will be carried locally by the UC bookstore, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, all Borders locations and Cardboard Heroes in Kenwood Mall and Florence.
