Why does Nippert Stadium need to be renovated and expanded?
A redeveloped Nippert Stadium will honor the University of Cincinnati’s football tradition while enhancing the gameday experience and amenities fans, students, donors, and alumni deserve. Hundreds of thousands of people experience the University of Cincinnati through the gates to Nippert Stadium and millions view the iconic stadium on television during nationally broadcasted Bearcats football games. The Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will make a statement that UC is committed to comprehensive excellence.
Will both sides of Nippert Stadium be enhanced?
Yes, the Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will positively impact both the east and west sides of the stadium. The West Pavilion, a new press box and premium seating area on the west side, will be created which will add suites, patio suites (loge boxes), and scholarship club seats. The west side of Nippert Stadium will also be renovated at the concourse level which will improve fan amenities, including concession stands, restrooms, and in-stadium traffic flow. Improvements on the east side of Nippert Stadium will tailor to the fan experience, including concession stands, restrooms, and improved traffic flow, resulting from building skywalks to connect the Herschede-Shank Pavilion with O’Varsity Way, the brick plaza leading to Nippert Stadium and the Richard E. Lindner Center.
How much will this project cost?
The much anticipated Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will cost an estimated $80-85 million. Funding will be acquired for this project through private donations from generous donors and new premium seating revenues which will be utilized to cover the costs over a period of years. No general University funds will be utilized for this project and a positive annual cash flow position is expected in an effort to improve the entire Department of Athletics.
How will this project benefit other sports and student-athletes?
The Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will directly benefit all 19 varsity sports and Bearcats student-athletes through revenue generated from the premium seating opportunities.
How can I get involved?
If you are interested in learning more about the opportunities and amenities associated with the new premium seating opportunities in the West Pavilion, please contact a member of our UCATS staff by calling 1-877-55-UCATS (1-877-558-2287) or by completing the online Letter of Intent form before September 30, 2013 to have the best opportunity to secure seating for the 2015 season. All individuals who are interested in seating options in the West Pavilion will be assigned to a seat selection process based on the individual’s donation level and Priority Points. At this time, most seating availability is located within the Scholarship Club Seats.
If I complete a Letter of Intent, when will I be able to select my seats inside the West Pavilion?
Seating options will be finalized and allocated in 2014. The seat selection process and information about the entire seat allocation process will be regularly communicated to all patrons who express an interest in purchasing seats in the West Pavilion.
Will the current UCATS Annual Giving and Priority Seating Program remain in place?
For the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the current UCATS Annual Giving and Priority Seating Program will remain intact. In conjunction with the re-opening of Nippert Stadium in 2015, there will be an effort made to streamline and simplify our overall UCATS Annual Campaign and Priority Seating Program. Any changes or modernizations will be communicated well in advance of 2015 to all UCATS members.
How will the Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project impact seating capacity?
At this time, the exact stadium capacity after the project is finalized has not been determined because the final architectural plans are not yet complete. However, UC officials estimate that, after construction is completed, Nippert Stadium will have a capacity of approximately 40,000.
Why did the University of Cincinnati replace the Nippert Stadium turf before the construction of the West Pavilion began?
To ensure the safety of our student-athletes, the turf replacement will occur in advance of the 2013 football season and will remain intact after construction.
I am currently a season ticket holder and UCATS member. Will I be able to maintain my current seats for the 2013 season?
Yes, current season ticket holders and UCATS members will have their seats available to them for the 2013 season as the Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will not begin until after the conclusion of the 2013 home game schedule.
Will the stadium continue to be made available for use by students?
Yes. Our goal is for Nippert Stadium and the new West Pavilion to serve as a multipurpose facility beyond home football games during the calendar year. We will continue to partner and collaborate with University leadership, students, and academic constituencies for usage on non-football game days.
When will the Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project begin? When will the project be completed?
The Nippert Stadium Renovation and Expansion Project will begin shortly after the completion of the 2013 football season and will be completed by August 2015 in advance of the 2015 football season.
Will the Bearcats football team play at Nippert Stadium in the 2014 season?
Potentially, all 2014 home games would need to be moved due to construction at Nippert Stadium. Paul Brown Stadium is being considered as an alternate site during this one-year transition during the project. More information will be released as it becomes available.
