CINCINNATI - Sophomore guard Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) scored a team-high 18 points as the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team defeated Northern Kentucky, 72-66, in exhibition play on Saturday evening in Fifth Third Arena.
Hollins, who suited up in the red and black for the first time since transferring from Michigan, was joined by sophomore Jeanise Randolph (Calumet City, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) and senior Chanel Chisholm (Long Island, N.Y./North Babylon/Vanderbilt) as the Bearcats' other double-digit scorers. Randolph was one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, while Chisholm had 14 points.
After a first half which featured four ties and seven lead changes, UC had a 40-33 advantage at the half and never relinquished the lead. With a 68-54 lead with 6:02 left on the clock, the Norse went on a 10-0 run to narrow the deficit, but Chisholm drew the foul and iced two from the line before making a last second layup to settle the final score.
