CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team shot a season-best 51-percent from the field en route to a season high 75 points as they defeated Morehead State, 75-44, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Fifth Third Arena.

The Bearcats (3-4) were led by 24 points from Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods). The redshirt senior shot 7-of-9 from the floor while making all nine attempts from the foul line. Jeanise Randolph (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) added 17 points, also on 7-of-9 shooting, while Kayla Cook (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) contributed 16 points including a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range. Bianca Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while also contributing seven points and a game-high four assists.

Morehead (4-6) got 14 points from Terrice Robinson, while Casey Ryans, Monique Bunk and Billie Hearn each contributed six points. The Eagles shot just 28-percent (15-54) from the field.

Hollins got off to a hot start, connecting on four of her first five field goal attempts to help UC open a 13-4 lead over the first six minutes. The lead became 16-4 on an 8-0 run that was capped by a three from Cook, forcing a Morehead timeout with 12:15 to play.

The lead swelled to 19-4 as the half wore on before the Bearcats would carry a 44-20 lead into the break. It was a complete 20 minutes of basketball, as UC had its highest scoring half of the season, while the 20 points by Morehead marked the lowest output by an opponent in the opening frame.

The 47 points by the Bearcats in the half were the most since scoring 47 in the opening half of Jamelle Elliott's UC coaching debut against Furman on Nov. 15, 2009. Hollins led the effort with 20 points at the break on 5-of-6 shooting while hitting all nine of her charity shots.

The Eagles came out swinging in the second half, opening the period on an 8-2 run to cut the UC lead to 21 (49-28). That would be the closest Morehead would get, however, as UC never allowed the lead to shrink to 20 points.

While UC did slow the pace a bit in the second half, the Bearcats still shot 46.2% from the floor in the final period as they cruised to the victory. Cincinnati also kept up the defensive pressure, holding Morehead to 23.3% from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The 75-point output for UC was the most since scoring 75 against Dayton on Nov. 16, 2011. It ties that game for the third-most points scored under Elliott.

Hollins' 24 points were a season high, as were her nine made free throws. Cook also had a season best in points while posting her best scoring output since pouring in 20 against Morgan State on Dec. 1, 2011. Quisenberry's 13 rebounds were the most in the young career of the 5-8 freshman, while her four assists matched her top total.

Next up for the Bearcats is a trip to Youngstown State on Sunday, Dec. 8. Tipoff with the Penguins is set for 2:00 p.m. UC returns home on Sunday, Dec. 15, for a 2:00 p.m. showdown with Ohio State. Tickets are available by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX or visiting GoBEARCATS.com/tickets.
