Cincinnati-Belmont Postgame Quotes

Dec. 21, 2012

Recap |  Final Stats

No. 4, Forward, Leesha Dunn

On where she thinks she is as a player:
“I’m just trying to do whatever is right for the team. If my shots not going I’ll look to create something off of the pass. I’m just trying to take what they give me.”

No. 31, Guard, Dayeesha Hollins

On the flow of today’s game:
“At first we did well. We just played basketball. In the second half I think maybe we just got a little relaxed and weren’t as focused on doing the things that we were doing in the first half and they adjusted. So we just had to find a way to keep attacking them and we had to make some changes as well.”

Head Coach Jamelle Elliot

On the win:
“That was a good win. That’s a good team. They beat Indiana, they beat Indiana State and they’re a really good team. Coming off that disappointing loss at Akron with the way we played against their two-three zone, I was really happy with the way we attacked their zone today. We didn’t settle for three-point shots and we got the ball inside. We played well off the dribble and were able to get the ball to Leesha Dunn inside and I couldn’t be prouder of our guys for the way we came in and played today after how we played at Akron last week.”

On Chelsea Jamison’s impact:
“Well she’s a lot more athletic than she looks. In practice she comes flying in from out of nowhere and grabs offensive rebounds and gets the put backs and you guys saw that today. Today she was even attacking the basket from the high post and making good passes. She’s a guard. She’s been moved to that four spot because of injuries and she’s made the most of it. It’s given her a chance to get out on the floor and she’s really producing for us.”

On where the team is at this point in the season:
“We’re finding a way. We haven’t been able to find our chemistry because we’ve had so many guys getting hurt and not coming back so I think right now we’ve finally find our groove again. We’ve changed our starting line up a little bit because Durley was so productive when she got the opportunity when Day was out. And that gives us two point guards in the game which I like. Now we have two solid guys coming off the bench with Chelsea and Alyesha once we get Tiffany back for Hawaii. ”

On their up-coming three game road stand at the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Invitational:
“I tell my players it’s going to prepare us for the Big East Tournament hopefully with the three games in three days. Right now they have three days off and I don’t want them to even think about basketball. I want them to enjoy being with their families and be thankful for what they have. I told them when they get off of the plane in Hawaii, yes we’re going to enjoy the weather, we’re going to enjoy being in paradise, but when it’s time for us to get back on the court we have to be ready mentally and physically and be prepared for three games in three days.”
