The University of Cincinnati will have five current and former Bearcats honored at the 21st annual Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Women’s Sports Association Awards Dinner on Monday, April 28. The list includes three Cincinnati alums, one current student-athlete and a future Bearcat.

Mackenzie Fields (track and field) and Jackie Keire (swimming) have already been tagged College Sportsperson of the Year for their respective sports, and both will be in the running for the all-around College Sportsperson Athlete of the Year, which will be announced at the awards dinner.

Fields won the BIG EAST Conference indoor and outdoor pole vault crowns, qualified for both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, earning All-America honors to close out her career at Cincinnati. Fields’ senior year was one of records as she broke both the indoor and outdoor school records in the pole vault and also set the Gettler Stadium mark. She remains the only female vaulter in UC history to clear 14 feet (14’ 3.25”). During the indoor season, she qualified for the NCAA Championships and finished 10th to earn All-America honors. She tallied a total of 10 first-place finishes on the year and excelled in the classroom, enabling her to win the American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award and garner Capitol One Academic All-District Team honors.

Keire won a pair of American Athletic Conference individual championships and qualified for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in three events during her freshman season at UC. Keire won conference titles in the 200 and 500 freestyles in 2014, while also setting a school record in the 200 at 1:44.73. She won a league-high four Female Swimmer of the Week Awards during the campaign, while also setting Keating Aquatics Center records in the 200 and 500. Keire qualified for the NCAA meet in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyles. She had a top-25 finish in the 200, with a time of 1:45.65 under half a second away from qualifying for the B-Final in the event.

Former standout track star Mary (Danner) Wineberg has been named the Master Sportswoman of the Year. She is a 2002 graduate from UC where she competed on the track & field team and still holds the outdoor 400-meter dash record (53.30). Following her collegiate career, she began running professionally and competed at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, winning a gold medal in the 4x400-meter relay. In July of 2009, Wineberg was selected for induction into the James P. Kelly, Sr. University of Cincinnati Athletics Hall of Fame. Since retiring from track & field, she has been very active in the Girls on the Run program, which inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Loretta Blaut is a women’s track & field signee from Seton High School, and she is in the running for the High School Sportsperson of the Year Award. Blaut is one of the nation’s top high jumpers in the 2014 recruiting class. She won the OHSAA Division 1 State Championships last spring and ranked as the second-best jumper in the state and seventh nationally among juniors. She has a personal-best clearance of 5’ 9”.

Jolinda (Lewis) Miller is a former UC women’s basketball player, and she has been named the Mary Jo Huismann Administrator of the Year. Miller currently serves as the Athletic Director at Cincinnati Hughes High School, a position she has held for the past nine years.

Playing at UC from 1994-98, Miller ranks eighth on Cincinnati's all-time scoring list with 1,523 career points. A two-time All-Conference USA selection, Miller was the team's top score during three seasons while also leading the team in assists twice. In addition to being named to the Great MidWest All-Newcomer team in 1995, Miller was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team following her senior campaign.

The 21st annual Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Women’s Sports Association Awards Dinner will take place at the Xavier University Cintas Center, Schiff Conference Center, starting at 6:45 p.m. on April 28. At the awards dinner, 26 athletes, sponsors, administrators, and coaches will be recognized for their participation and contributions to women’s sports in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

For the second year the event will be streamed, live on the website:  www.cincywomensports. org .  The emcees for the evening will be Local 12 news anchor Cammy Dierking, the co-founder of the GCNKWSA, and Fox19 Sports Anchor Betsy Ross, co-founder of Game Day Communications.
