American Athletic Conference Release

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its 2017-18 women’s basketball pairings on Thursday.

The league's 12 members will play a 16-game schedule. With the addition of Wichita State, each team will play five of its 11 opponents twice, and six opponents once each – three at home and three away.

The Bearcats’ single-game matchups include home-only contests against UCF, Memphis, and Tulane with away-only tilts at reigning AAC regular season and tournament champion UConn, at SMU, and at league newcomer Wichita State. UC will face the remaining league opponents twice over the course of the conference season -- once at home and once on the road.

The conference enjoyed tremendous basketball success in 2016-17 highlighted by UConn winning an NCAA record 111 consecutive games and advancing to its 10th straight Final Four. Six teams – UCF, UConn, USF, SMU, Temple and Tulane – were selected for postseason play. Wichita State will join the conference as a full member on July 1.

The complete 2017-18 AAC women's basketball schedule with dates and times will be announced in late August.

With Fifth Third Arena currently undergoing an $87-million renovation, the UC women’s basketball team will play the 2017-18 season at St. Ursula Academy’s Gymnasium & Convocation Center. The 35,000-square foot facility is located 1.7 miles east of UC’s campus on McMillan St. with ample parking surrounding the facility. The Experience UC program will remain in effect for the 2017-18 year for Olympic sports, enabling Bearcats fans of all ages to enjoy free admission to women’s basketball and volleyball contests. The Bearcats will return to a renovated Fifth Third Arena for the 2018-19 season.
