CINCINNATI - Former University of Cincinnati women's basketball standout Jeanise Randolph (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) has signed a professional contract with Gipuzkoa UPV of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto.
"I'm so excited to sign this contract and have the opportunity to play overseas," Randolph said. "Being able to play professionally is something I never thought I'd be able to do but playing for Coach (Jamelle) Elliott at UC prepared me for this next level and encouraged me to overcome all obstacles."
Gipuzkoa UPV, a member of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, is located on the northern cost of Spain in San Sebastián and was formed in 2005. Last year Gipuzkoa UPV compiled a 10-12 record and finished eighth in the league.
Named the Bearcats' MVP this season, Randolph averaged 11.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 51.5% from the field. In addition to earning All-Conference Second-Team honors, Randolph was twice selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Player of the Week.
Randolph earned the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week honor on Dec. 17 after recording a double-double during a 64-49 win over Ohio State. She was one of three American Athletic Conference players to earn the award during the year.
Randolph finished her career ranked fourth all-time at UC in blocks (83). The senior recorded double-digits points 18 times and double-digit rebounds 14 times, finishing with 10 double-doubles. Randolph ranked fifth in conference and 59th nationally in field-goal percentage. She was also third in the conference and 96th nationally in rebounding.
