CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women’s basketball senior guard Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll as announced by the league Monday.
Hollins led the Bearcats to a pair of wins last week by averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds. The senior shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from the field and went 11-of-14 from the free throw line.
During an 86-70 win over Akron, Hollins totaled a season-high 25 points while also dishing out seven assists and recording two steals. The senior guard recorded assists on five of UC’s first six baskets as the Bearcats raced out to a 19-3 lead over the Zips. Hollins also recorded her 1,000th point at UC with a basket during the first half.
Hollins then added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists during a defensive victory over crosstown rival Xavier. Hollins, who was the only player in the game to reach double digits, also went 4-of-5 from the free throw line.
Hollins currently leads the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game. Hollins ranks first in the conference and 73rd nationally in free throw percentage, hitting 85.2 percent of her shots from the charity stripe. Hollins also lead the team in assists at 3.2 per game.
The honor roll nod is the second this season for Hollins.
The Bearcats return to action on Sunday, December 29 to face No. 1 UConn in Storrs, Conn. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
