Smith Brings Decades of Golf Instruction Experience to Program
Brad Smith joined the UC coaching staff in the winter of 2016 with decades of golf instruction experience including nine years as a high school coach, 11 years as a NCAA Division I college coach, and 30 years as a PGA golf professional. Operating his own full-service golf company - Golf Doctor, Smith has given thousands of lessons over the years to students all over the world.
Smith comes to UC after, most recently, coaching at Springboro High School in Springboro, Ohio where he coached the boys team and individually instructed some members of the girls team. During his tenure, Smith was named the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) South Coach of the Year three times. As a certified golf instructor, Smith was recently named the Southern Ohio PGA 2014 Teacher of the Year and was nominated for the 2015 National PGA Teacher of the Year.
Prior to his stint at the high school level, Smith was the golf coach at the University of Dayton, serving as the head coach of the women’s team for 10 seasons and the men’s team for five seasons before resigning on Feb. 9, 2006 due to increased responsibilities with his golfing business.
Smith resides in Springboro with his wife of over 30 years, Teri, and their sons, Spencer and Ty. In addition to his golf work, Smith and his family established a nonprofit organization – Smith Brain Connections.
