Bearcats record sub-900 score for second time this season.

Janet Carl, a class A member of the LPGA, has brought continued improvement to the University of Cincinnati golf program during her 10 seasons as head coach. In the summer of 2009, Carl was promoted to Director of Golf, while keeping the head women's coaching duties.

The Vice President of the Mid-West Section of the LPGA, Carl was named to the Board of Coaches within the NCAA's Alliance of Women's Coaches in May, 2011. The Alliance, which is not sport-specific, will serve as a resource for women who are either currently coaching or aspire to break into the coaching ranks.

Carl led the Bearcats to back-to-back third-place finishes at the 2008 and 2009 BIG EAST Golf Championships before a fourth-place finish at the 2010 championships.

The 2010 team captured a pair of tournament titles (UC Fall Invitational, Dayton Fall Invitational) while placing two golfers on the all-BIG EAST team for the first time since the 2007 season. In 2011, Bambee Dela Paz earned her second straight all-BIG EAST honor after posting three Top 10 finishes throughout the campaign.

The Bearcats women's program showed continued growth under Carl's watch, due in part to the play of Hillery Wilson and Allison Mayborg. Carl coached Wilson to nine tournament titles, while helping Mayborg and Sarah Stamper earn their first career victories as well. As a team, UC scored its biggest victory in the fall of 2006, when it captured the Lady Irish Invitational.

Her work with the program was recognized on a national level in the fall of 2006, when Carl was named the LPGA National Coach of the Year.

Carl's commitment to Cincinnati golf was made evident by her BIG EAST peers as she was elected to a term as Vice President of the league's coaches for the period of 2007-09.

During the 2002-03 season, Carl was essential in the continued development of Allison Couch. Under Carl's tutelage, Couch became the first Bearcats woman to win a tournament since 1999. For her efforts, Carl was named the LPGA Midwest Section Golf Coach of the Year.

Carl's program continued to improve, again led by the play of Couch, during 2003-04. Under Carl's guidance, Couch won back-to-back tournaments to earn her second Conference USA Golfer of the Month award.

Prior to her appointment at UC, Carl served as golf coach at Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, Ky. from 1999-2001, winning Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the Year honors all three years and Cincinnati Post Coach of the Year twice. She came to the Cincinnati area in 1993 and served in various positions within the golf community prior to taking the post at Notre Dame Academy.

The graduate of the University of Alabama served as assistant director of the LPGA Junior Girls Golf Clubs in 1994 before being named executive director. She is a Class A member of LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals. Carl was also an instructor in Mexico, Georgia, Vermont and Florida. She currently teaches at the Golf Ranch in Burlington, Ky. and golf schools at Pine Needles Resort and Golf Club.
