Dose Leads Bearcats During First Day at Amelia Island Collegiate|

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) led the University of Cincinnati women’s golf team during the first day of the Amelia Island Collegiate Tournament hosted by Jacksonville University Monday afternoon.
The senior is tied for 10th in the field of 77 after shooting rounds of 74 and 72 Monday. Dose opened the day with a 74 through the first 18 holes recording three birdies. The senior capped her day with an even-par 72 with five birdies on her card.
Andrea Malek (Tibro, Sweden/Klippans Gymnasieskola) is tied for 34th with rounds of 77 and 75 on day one. Malek dropped one stroke off both the front and back nine from her first round to the second. Valentina Herrera (Bogotá, Colombia) rebounded from a first-round 81 to fire a 76 during the final 18 holes, recording two birdies.
Stefani Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview High School) and Mackenzie Moir (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) rounded out Cincinnati’s scoring team with total first-day scores of 164 and 165 respectively. Mitchell is currently tied for 65th with rounds of 77 and 87 while Moir is tied for 69th with scores of 82 and 83.
Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks) turned in a strong performance competing as an individual with rounds of 78 and 81. Her 36-hole score of 159 has her tied for 54th.
The Bearcats are in 11th place out of 14 teams after the first two rounds. Cincinnati recorded team scores of 309 and 306 for a 36-hole total of 615. Florida International holds a commanding 13-stroke lead after the first day with a team score of 277-282-559. Kennesaw State is the only other school to finish under par with a 290-282-572 to sit in second place.
Tournament action will continue Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the final 18 holes.
