Women's Golf Opens Spring Invitational in Fifth Place|

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. – Taking on hosting duties this weekend, the University of Cincinnati women’s golf team sits in fifth place after the first round of their home invitational played at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa in Crystal River, Florida.
The tournament format features a six-member team with the top four scores counting towards the team total.
The Bearcats turned in a first-round score of 309 to sit tied for fifth place after 18 holes. Lynn (303) leads the field ahead of Seminole State (306), Seton Hall (308), Jacksonville (308) and Memphis (309).
Competing as an individual, Tara Liebert (Mason, Ohio/Mason) turned in the best performance for UC with a one-over-par round of 73 to place her tied for third place. The freshman picked up birdies on two of her final three holes to jump up in the standings.
Cincinnati’s scoring team was led by Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) and Andrea Malek (Tibro, Sweden/Klippans Gymnasieskola) who recorded a 75 and 76 respectively during the first round. Dose recorded one birdie on hole No. 8 and sits in 10th place while Malek carded a birdie on No. 17 and places 15th.
Stephanie Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) shot a 78 during the first round to sit in 25th place. Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks) is tied for 36th with an 80. The six member team was completed by Mackenzie Moir (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Valentina Herrera (Bogota, Colombia) who shot 83 and 84 respectively.
Sofia Langenius (Hovas, Sweeden) also competed as an individual at the event and carded a first-round 85 to sit tied for 75th place.
