Day 1 Results

WEST POINT, Miss.- The University of Cincinnati women's golf team is tied for ninth after the first round of the season-opening Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational at Old Waverly Golf Club on Monday.

Senior Alex Carl and junior Olivia Dose led the way for the Bearcats with a pair of first-round 74s, which is good for a tie for 11th place. Sophomore Mackenzie Moir is tied for 37th with a 78, while senior Maria Roosis 54th after a first-round 83.

Fredricka Winqvist and Andrea Malekposted scores of 85 and 91, respectively. Winqvist is participating as an individual in the three-day event hosted by Mississippi State.

The Bearcats posted a team round of 309, tied with Kennesaw State for ninth, one shot behind Memphis. Tulane leads the field after 18 holes with a 290 team score, while the Green Wave's Gemma Dryburgh leads the individual competition with a first-round 69.

"We got off to a slow start but we were pleased with many things during the round today," said Director of Golf Janet Carl. "We will work on improving a few things for tomorrow's round, looking to make a move up the leaderboard."

The Bearcats will tee off at 9:30 a.m. for second-round action on Tuesday.
