SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Mackenzie Moir shot a career-low 71-74-73=218 and the University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished fourth at the Cardinal Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the Cardinal Club.
Moir's previous three-round career-low was 233, set last week at the season-opening Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational. Her first-round 71 is also a career low. She finished third, behind Louisville's Emily Haas (69-69-71=209) and UNC Greensboro's Fanny Cnops (73-73-68=214).
Maria Roos finished tied for 11th with rounds of 74-72-77=223, also a career-best three-round total.
Olivia Dose (78-74-74=226) was 20th, while Alex Carl was tied for 55th with rounds of 76-77-85=238.
Host Louisville won the team title on its home course with rounds of 294-297-305=896, one shot ahead of Missouri (291-308-298=897). Chattanooga (291-308-298=897) was third, followed by UC which posted 299-297-309=905.
"We put up a good fight today," said Director of Golf Janet Carl. "I'm proud of the team and their effort. Now it's time to prepare for Penn State."
The Bearcats will head to State College, Pa., on Sept. 28-30 for the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational.
