Women's Golf Completes First Round at Old Waverly Invitational|

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational hosted by Mississippi State.
The Bearcats were led during the first round by senior Andrea Malek (Tibro, Sweden/Klippans Gymnasieskola) who carded a 75 Monday. Malek’s 3-over par score was aided by an eagle on the 15th hole. The senior was one of only four players in the field to record an eagle during Monday’s round. Malek, who also recorded a birdie on the ninth hole, is currently tied for 22nd.
Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) sits in 32nd place after shooting a 77 during Monday. Stefanie Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview High Schoo) and Tara Liebert (Mason, Ohio/Mason) are both tied for 40th after shooting 79 in the opening round. Mackenzie Moir rounds out the scoring team with an 81, placing her 47th. Valentina Herrera (Bogota, Columbia) competed at the tournament as an individual, carding a 78 which ranks her 37th among the field of 60.
Mississippi State leads the field with a 7-under par score of 281. East Carolina (289), Georgia State (293), Florida International (294) and Southern Alabama (297) rounded out the top five teams.
Eastern Tennessee State (300) is sixth after the first day while Murray State (307), Cincinnati (310), South Florida (310) and Memphis (313) rounded out the top ten.
Teammates from Mississippi State Ally McDonald and Jessica Peng sit in first and place respectively in the race for medalist honors. McDonald fired a 67 Monday while Peng finished with a 69.
