STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The final round of the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational, which was planned for Sunday at the Penn State Blue Course, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished the rain-shortened event in sixth place.
After finishing the first round in a tie for 10th, the Bearcats jumped to sixth with a seound-round 305 total. UC's 316-305=621 finished two shots better than Western Michigan (314-309=623) and Georgetown (311-312=623), who tied for seventh.
Alex Carl continued her consistent play with a second-round 76 for a total of 77-76=153, good for a tie for 22nd. Mackenzie Moir and Maria Roos also carded second-round scores of 76, while Olivia Dose shot 77 to round out UC's scoring.
Dose finished in a tie for 35th, while Andrea Malek (78-79=157) tied for 38th and Moir tied for 42nd.
Longwood's Ariel Witmer won the individual title with rounds of 71-73=144.
Eastern Michigan, with rounds of 300-297=597, won the team title, two shots ahead of host Penn State (305-294=599).
The Bearcats travel to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Price's Give 'Em Five Classic on Oct. 10-11.
