Round 1 Results

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Sophomore Andrea Malek fired a career-best 70 to sit in a tie for second place in the first round of the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate on Monday at the New Mexico State Golf Course.

The Bearcats' first-round team total of 299 is a season-best and good for a seventh-place tie with host New Mexico State, the defending tournament champion.

Junior Alex Carl and freshman Mackenzie Moir each posted first-round scores of 76, which place them in a tie for 37th place through 18 holes.

Junior Maria Roos is tied for 46th with a first-round 77.

Long Beach State (287) leads No. 21 Baylor (288) by one stroke for the team title, while Baylor's Chelsey Cothran and Idaho's Teo Poplawski posted identical 69s to lead the 14-team field.

The second round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. MT on Tuesday.
