Oct. 22, 2013
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team finished sixth at the 36th annual Pat Bradley Invitational hosted by Florida International over the past three days with a team score of 894.
The score marks just the second time in school history that the Bearcats have shot sub-900 for a three-round event. UC accomplished the feat for the first team earlier this season at the New Mexico Invitational with a school-record team score of 887.
“Overall we are pleased with recording another sub-900 team score, but still feel we left some strokes out there,” said head coach Janet Carl. “I’m excited to see what we can put together for our final event this fall.”
The Bearcats were lead by Andrea Malek (74-74-73=221) who finished tied for 18th at the event. Olivia Dose (78-74-70-222) knocked another four strokes off her round Tuesday to jump to 19th overall. Ashley Cassidy (74-72-81=227) finished tied for 34th while Valentina Herrera (80-74-74-228) finished tied for 41st. Stefanie Mitchell (76-82-81=239) rounded out UC’s scoring team, finishing tied for 73rd.
Mackenzie Moir (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) shot a career-best round of 68 on Tuesday but due to an error with the score card was ruled disqualified for the round. Had her score counted, her total of 215 would have placed her tied for ninth overall.
Missouri (295-292-286=873) took the overall title at the event, narrowly ahead of Daytona State (293-287-294=874) and Florida International (287-298-291=876). Maryland (291-293-294=878) and Memphis (300-298-294=892) rounded out the top five teams.
Coralia Arias of Florida International earned medalist honors with scores of 69-72-69=210.
Cincinnati will return to action October 27-28 for the Palmetto Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C. The tournament will be the final event of the fall for the Bearcats.
