CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team wrapped up the 2013 fall season Monday by completing play at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston in Kiawah, S.C. The Bearcats finished 14th out of the field of 19 teams with a team score of 931.
UC completed the entire first round and most of the second round Sunday before play was suspended due to darkness. Monday's action included the conclusion of the second round before the start of the final round. The Bearcats followed the first round 315 score with a 305 during the split second round. Cincinnati finished up the fall with a 311 during the final round.
The overall team title went to Kansas with scores of 297-295-284=876. Georgia State was second (308-288-283=879) followed by East Tennessee State (294-306-299=899), GRU Augusta (298-311-292=901), College of Charleston (299-303-300=902) and Illinois (301-302-299=902) to round out the top five teams.
Melissa Siviter of Georgia State (77-70-67=214) won medalist honors as the only competitor to finish the course under par.
Mackenzie Moir (75-78-78=231) was the Bearcats top finisher at the event, tying for 43rd place. Ashley Cassidy (79-78-76=233) and Valentina Herrera (80-74-79=233) each tied for 53rd place. Andrea Malek (84-76-78=238) and Olivia Dose (80-77-80=238) each tied for 68th place to round out UC's scoring team.
The Bearcats return to action during the 2014 spring season, competing at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate in Fernandina Beach, Fla. Feb 17-18.
