GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished tied for fifth at the UAB Fall Beach Blast on Tuesday (Nov. 4) at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
Freshman Anna Cumtell (Halmstad, Sweden) was UC's top finisher, placing ninth with a 36-hole total of 75-76=151. Senior Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) was two shots back of her teammate ,finishing with a 77-76=153 for 17th place.
The Bearcats were consistent, firing identical rounds of 310-310=620, which tied with Indiana State for fifth place in the 14-team field. Southern Mississippi was one shot better, finishing 312-307=619. Jacksonville State was one shot better still, finishing 313-305=618 for third place.
Columbia took home the team title with a 297-300=597, winning by six strokes over second-place Samford (300-303=603).
Columbia’s Stevy Loy earned medalist honors after shooting a 67 in the final round for a two-under par 142.
UC's Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philipines/Miriam College) and Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Grammar School) tied for 30th with two-round totals of 158.
The tournament wrapped up the fall portion of the UC golf schedule. The Bearcats will resume play ion Feb. 21-24 at the Kiawah Island Women's Invitational.
