UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - Lindsey Marshall (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Davidson) scored twice - her 25th and 26th goals of the season - but the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped a 19-4 decision against Penn State on Friday (April 18) afternoon at Jeffrey Field.
Penn State (4-9) scored 12 first-half goals to take a 12-2 advantage into the break and never looked back.
The Nittany Lions scored the first eight goals of the game before Jess Kazaks (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) tallied at the 19:52 mark. Marshall followed with her first goal of the game less than two minutes later to cut the lead to 8-2.
Penn State posted ten straight goals to push the advantage to 18-2 with just over 10 minutes to play in the contest.
Shannon Lynes (Ellicott, MD/River Hill) and Marshall scored sandwiched around a PSU goal to produce the final margin.
Jessi Lieb led the Penn State attack with three goals, while 12 different Nittany Lions found the net.
The Bearcats committed just 15 turnovers, but were unable to overcome a 44-8 disadvantage in shots.
Haley Marvine (Alpharetta, GA/Chattahoochee) made nine saves in relief of starter Jen Mott (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore), who stopped three Nittany Lion attempts.
UC returns to Nippert Stadium for its home finale against Ohio State on Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
