CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team continues its BIG EAST road tour with a game at Georgetown on Wednesday, April 12. The match is set for 1 p.m. at Georgetown’s Cooper Field in Washington, D.C.

Wednesday’s game will be the ninth overall meeting between Georgetown and Cincinnati with the Hoyas holding an 8-0 lead in the series. Georgetown won the last meeting 10-5 on April 16, 2016, at the Sheakley Athletics Center in Cincinnati.

Georgetown enters the contest with 6-7 overall record and a 4-1 mark in league play. It is led by Francesca Whitehurst with a team-high 35 points on 21 goals and 14 assists. Overall, Georgetown tallies 6 players with 10 or more goals this season; Whitehurst (35), Taylor Gebhardt (27), Morgan Ryan (24), Georgia Tunney (19), Hannah Seibel (11), and Emily Ehle (11). The Hoyas have outscored their opponents 153 to 130 this season and are coming off an 18-11 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, April 8. Whitehurst was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on April 11 after recording five goals, six ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers in two wins last week.

Freshman Monica Borzillo (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) continues to shine in her first season at Cincinnati, and currently leads the conference in assists per game (2.38), points per game (4.92), shots per game (7.00), total assists (31), total points (64) and total shots (91).
With four regular season games still remaining on the schedule, Borzillo already holds the program single-season records for assists (31), and points (64).
