CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team opens up fall play this weekend at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pa., where they will play Robert Morris, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Canisius, and Saint Bonaventure.
This opens play in the 2012-13 season, the first for head coach Gina Oliver.
“We are excited to be getting to play full field ball two weeks into the fall season,” said Oliver. “It’s a chance to play someone other than ourselves and a test to see where we are at with our new system.”
Oliver takes over the lacrosse program in its sixth season of competition. UC returns leading scorer Marissa Pierson (28 goals) and goalkeeper Jennifer Walsh, who started all 16 matches in 2012.
“Our goal is to compete and focus on how-not who- we play,” continued Oliver. “Our girls understand the expectations and are excited and eager to play under this new system”.
The Bearcats also travel to Vanderbilt and Ohio State for other fall ball action.
