Lacrosse Signs Eight For 2012 Season

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s lacrosse team will welcome eight newcomers in the 2012 season, head coach Lellie Swords announced today.

“We could not be any more excited to welcome these eight student-athletes to the Cincinnati Lacrosse Family,” Swords said. “They bring a wealth of experience, high energy and a passion for the game to our team.  We have no doubt that they will make an immediate impact on our team and will raise the level of competition in our program.”

The 2012 Bearcats lacrosse signees:

Megan Bell
Midfield | Fr. | Baltimore, Md. | Hereford
High School:
Three-year varsity letterwinner … named all-county as a junior and senior … a three-time all-division selection … participated in the senior lacrosse all-star game … won the county championships as a junior … deemed the North County News Athlete of the Year … participated in the Baltimore Metro US women’s division national tournament as a sophomore and junior … also a three-year letterwinner in soccer and four-year letterwinner in basketball.

Personal: Born on March 21, 1993 … daughter of Hilly Bell and Wayne Sody and Mike Bell … has two sisters, Heather and Kelly … majoring in communications.

High School:
As a senior, was a member of the first-team all-district, first-team all-state and honorable mention all-America … selected to the first-team all-district, first-team all-Ohio and honorable mention all-American as a junior … named team offensive player of the year her junior and senior year … named second-team all-district as a sophomore … broke school records in all-time points (305), assists (207) and tied for career goals (148) and season goals (79) … also a member of the basketball team.


 

 

Personal: Born on March 3, 1993 … daughter of Branden and Tammy Fisher … has one brother and two sisters … majoring in sports administration.

Four-year varsity starter … junior and senior team captain … represented upper Atlantic in the national tournament as a freshman  … first-team all-South Jersey, second-team all-county, Holy Cross High School offensive player of the year her sophomore year … a Burlington County Times first-team selection as a sophomore … as a junior, named Burlington County Times pre-season player to watch … in 2010, was a first-team all-South Jersey and first-team all-county selection … awarded the Holy Cross High School attacker of the year as a junior … represented South Jersey Team I in the national tournament … a 2011 Burlington County Times and Courier Post first-team  selection … named Holy Cross player of the year her senior season … a member of the 2011 second-team all-South Jersey team and a New Jersey all-star.

Personal: Born on July 15, 1993 … daughter of Jim and Andrea Graham … has two brothers … majoring in pre-medicine and radiology.

Personal: Born on November 7, 1992 … daughter of Chet and Karen Heineke … has one brother … undecided on academic major.

Junior and senior lacrosse all-star … also a lettewinner as a sophomore.

Kelly Hilmer

As a freshman, was named most valuable offensive player and all-district honorable mention ... named team most valuable player her sophomore year … also named to the Great Lakes second team, first-team all-district, first-team all-Ohio South and second-team all-Ohio as a sophomore … earned her second most valuable player honor as a junior, when she was a team captain and was selected to the second-team all-district … as a senior captain, earned first-team all-district, first-team all-Ohio and was a member of the senior all-star team … also played basketball and field hockey.

Personal: Born on April 27, 1993 … daughter of Steve and Meg Hilmer … has one sister … undecided on academic major.

A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse …  a member of the senior all-star team in lacrosse and soccer … a member of the all-county team for three years and the all-division team her junior and senior year … won the most valuable player award in senior lacrosse all-star game … competed in the U.S. Women’s Division National Tournament on the Baltimore Metro Team 1 … helped track team to regional championships all four year … also a letterwinner in indoor track and soccer.

Personal: Born on August 29, 1993 … daughter of George and Vicki Magnotta … has two sisters … majoring in exercise science.

Victoria Zarella

Earned honorable mention as a sophomore … named to the first-team all-district and second-team all-region team her junior year … as a senior, selected to the first-team all-district, first-team all-region and All-Metropolitan team … also a member of the cheerleading and swimming team.
